Description
Made from Northern Michigan abundant fruit, we produce this cherry wine in a ripe, fruity, semi-dry style. This wine is a combination of cherry varieties that are both estate-grown and harvested from neighboring orchards.
Aging Potential:
Most fruit wines are produced to be consumed young and show best within their first two years following production. With proper care and handling this wine, like any of our fruit wines, will drink well for five years or more.
Thoughts for Food:
This is a versatile wine. This cherry wine has great acidity to pair with poultry or pork dishes and can show its adaptability with ethnic cuisine like Thai or Szechwan.
This wine is also wonderful as a mulled wine. Try this recipe.
1 bottle Black Star Farms Cherry Wine
12 oz. water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground clove
a couple sprinkles of ground nutmeg
-Combine all ingredients into sauce pan and give it a good stirring. Heat gently, but do not boil, and do not stir again. Skim off the spices on top, serve and enjoy.
Wine Makers Comments::
A nice blend of sweet and tart cherry flavors complemented by a subtle spicy finish. This is a wine with many uses. Most people who enjoy off-dry style fruit wines drink it as an aperitif or as an alternative to grape-based semi-dry wines.
